American who bought a rare Pokémon card from corona support gets three years in prison

A man from the US state of Georgia has been sentenced to three years in prison after he illegally obtained corona support and used more than 57,000 dollars (more than 52,000 euros) to buy a rare Pokémon card, reports The Guardian Monday.

The 31-year-old man pleaded guilty to internet fraud in October. Prosecutors said he submitted false information last year when applying for a coronavirus relief loan for a company he claimed to own.

The man allegedly lied about the number of people he employed and about the annual income of his company. According to prosecutors, he received an $85,000 loan and used it to purchase the Pokémon card.

This is a very rare copy of the Charizard card. It would be the second most expensive Pokémon card in existence.
